Monday - Garbage Day - Hooray!

Logan loves Monday's for one reason...Garbage Day!!  Ever since he was old enough to know better, we have been watching the garbage truck come by our house and pick up our trash. It is sooo exciting, and close, and loud, and big! We have done this now for so long, that we know our garbage collector by name - Jorge, and we even make him cards and pictures at times!  Jorge is actually the best garbage man, and we chat with him for a little bit when he comes by.  We know him so well that there is a running joke on our block about Lyla possibly being the garbage mans baby - lol!!!  Too funny!  Logan loves this day, and just can't wait for Jorge to come by!  It is even better on days when the recycle man comes too, b/c that means 2 trucks come by the house.  I just love moments like these, and am so thankful that I get to be home to enjoy them :)

waiting for the garbage trucks!

Snow, snow snow - we need a snow blower!

On April 17, we got a huge storm come through that dumped ~20 inches of snow over 2 days.  Needless to say, after the 3rd time shoveling, Andy was ready to go out and buy a snow blower!  It was beautiful, and really fun to play in, although, it was pretty wet!  After 2 days of snow, the weather changed, and it was sunny and 70!  Did I mention how much we love it here!! This is nothing like the bone-chilling, cold, wet winters of Illinois we grew up with.

Measuring ~14 inches - not done snowing just yet!

Logan and Lyla

Playing around one afternoon, I got Logan to take a few pictures with his sister - they are so funny & sweet together!

Our Little Peanut!

As everyone does with kids, you find yourself calling them certain nicknames, and they just stick.  Logan was our "little boogie".  Because he was so small, it just made sense that he was just "a little booger", so the nickname stuck.  Lyla is our "little peanut".  There is something about a baby girl that makes her more delicate for some reason, and so, with her being smaller than her brother, and with such a small head, she became our peanut.  We hope later on in life, they find these names endearing and not offensive :)

Resurrection Plant

One of our most favorite gifts for Easter was this Resurrection Plant.  I had never heard of one, but it is so cool.  This plant comes all brown & dried, and closed up into a ball.  Then, once you put it in a bowl and add water, it starts to slowly open up, and turn green!  Finally, a plant that I can't kill :)  Thanks Nana & Papa!

Lyla - 2 months old already

We recently had Lyla's 2 month Dr. visit, and she is doing GREAT! She is growing SOOO fast - I secretly wish she would slow down a bit :(  The second time around, I am enjoying the baby phase so much more - less unknown I guess!
weight: 10 lbs 11 3/4 ounces - 50-75%
Length: 23 1/2 inches - 90% (who would have thought -haha)
Head: 37.2 inches - 10-25% (she's our little "peanut")

She got 5 immunizations that day, and was so amazing!  She cried for a second, and had no reactions afterwards!  I couldn't believe it.  Can you imagine getting pumped up with that many immunizations and how you would feel???

Here are Lyla's  2 months pics with her kitty! Logan was there helping me to get her to smile, but it didn't work too well :)

Logan tickling Lyla's tummy - giggling!

Watching her brother  - she just LOVES him!

Easter Weekend

Mom  - "Logan, what do you remember about Easter? What is it about?"

Logan - "The EASTER BUNNY!"

Mom - "Yes, but who else is it about?"

Logan - "Well, just Jesus."

Mom - "What about Jesus?"

Logan - "Just Jesus Mom."

That is as good as it gets for a 2 1/2 year old I guess :)  Our Easter was a pretty uneventful one this year.  Logan started off the weekend getting sick on Friday with a quick bug, and then turning into yet another cold.  On Sunday morning, Mom got sick with the same bug, and was in bed all day, except for a few moments to watch Logan find his Easter eggs and basket.  Dad ended up watching the kiddos inside all day since it was raining, and since none of us were feeling that great, we did not eat any special meals :(  Lyla slept through most of the day too, and that night, Andy ended up getting the same bug! So, thank goodness for new toys and T.V.

Stopping his egg hunt to check out his basket!

"Candy - can I eat it?"

He waited all week to open his gifts from the grandparents!

Slinky fun!

Big Boy Bed!

Easter weekend, we decided it was time for Logan to put away his toddler bed, and get a new "big Boy Bed".  He is growing so fast, and getting so tall, that he was quickly outgrowing his crib/toddler bed.  Mom was sad to see it go, but it was so much fun watching his excitement as he and Andy took apart his bed, and put up the new one!

"Help, I'm in jail!"

Testing out the new bed right away!

Getting ready to read a few books on his new bedspread!

Enjoying his new bed - he really loves it!

I'm ready for my shave Daddy!

Logan has wanted to shave like Daddy for a LONG time so this morning, Andy gave Logan a "shave" :) What fun boy bonding (with mom crashing it to take pics of course)!

Lyla's many faces!

I just love all the expressions babies make! In trying to get a smile out of Lyla the other day, I caught all sorts of different expressions out of our little girl, except a smile...of course! It is so much fun to try and figure out what she is thinking, so here are my guesses:

"My brother is really fun...much more than my mom with the camera".

"Hmm, I could smile, but I don't think I will".

"Wow, how did she make that noise"?

"I am so over this camera, and mom making all those silly sounds".

"Are we done yet, because I am"?
